Ojanti.com is majorly, custom designed by hand from the ground up. The site is built with a mobile first approach hence optimised for speed & fair browser compatibility.

Design Inspiration

This site is largely inspired by several Google platforms. Google has always been a source of inspiration for me in respect to user experience, design and application intuitiveness (Gmail being my personal favorite). Their design methods make use of simplicity and elegance and still manage to convey the necessary information. Here are a list of the Google sites that influenced the design of ojanti.com

  1. Google Login reply
  2. Google Support reply
  3. Google Plus (the new design) reply
  4. Google About me reply
  5. Gmail (Compose box)

Of the many SVG icon sets out there, Google's Material design Icons was a definite pick due to the its  nearly scientific foundation. The icon construction of Material design is based on research  into human visual cues and responses. Not to mention the wide adoption in Android powered smartphones globally

Content Management

The site has a front site which displays content and a back-end content management system. I considered using WordPress to manage the sites content but instead built a custom CMS using Codeigniter 3 (a php framework).

Libraries, Frameworks and Plugins

Interaction on Ojanti.com's is mainly powered by JavaScript (20% Vanilla + 80% Library based). JQuery and JQuery UI are the JavaScript libraries used.

MaterializeCSS framework powers the tabs component, share widget and Waves effect. It also provides a nice range of helper classes for margins, paddings, backgrounds and colors.
